Requirements

  • Will be required to enroll and complete the approved training course as agreed to by the joint apprenticeship committee.
  • Must be able to be respirator qualified.
  • Must have the ability to intelligently communicate with plant personnel both verbally and in writing.
  • Must pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) MASS exam.
  • Must have a reasonable leave of learning ability to develop basic understanding of nuclear plant maintenance and procedures.
  • Successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for general maintenance.
  • Safe disassembly and reassembly of plant components using standard maintenance tools.
  • Operate overhead cranes and mobile equipment.
  • Perform duties from scaffolds and catwalks in high and confined areas.
  • Function under written plant maintenance procedures and document records as required.
  • Accept temporary assignments at other plants, including nuclear plants, as directed.
  • Actively participate in training and retraining programs.
  • Develop basic understanding of nuclear plant maintenance and procedures.
