About The Position

This position requires an individual who can effectively lead teams with a common goal of achieving excellence in radiation protection. This position will provide direction, judgment, and leadership in radiation protection for support of power plant operations. This position requires the ability to work with people. The position will be posted for 10 Working Days from May 12th, 2026 to May 26th, 2026. The anticipated pay for this position can start at $47.75 and can be hired in at a higher rate depending on experience. Once all progression steps are completed the pay will be $60.50.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the definition of a senior (“responsible”) technician by ANSI N18.1-1971 standards
  • Two years of experience as an RP Technician

Nice To Haves

  • One year of technical training preferred
  • Current industry standard qualifications (EPRI STEs) or previous house RP Technician qualifications are strongly desired.
  • An AS or higher in Health Physics or an applicable science is desired
  • Navy Nuclear Program experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct radiation surveys in support of plant operations and maintenance.
  • Conducts routine and non-routine radiation, contamination and airborne surveys in support of operations and maintenance work during both non-outage and outage activities.
  • Conduct special surveys for shipping of radioactive material.
  • Planning and conducting radiological work both during online operations and during shutdown or outage conditions.
  • Provide ALARA coverage for support of online and shutdown maintenance activities.
  • Provide continuous and periodic coverage during high dose and medium dose work activities.
  • Work with work planning management to provide dose estimates for online and outage work activities.
  • Write Radiation Work Permits as necessary to support online and shutdown operations.
  • Work with computer technology to support radiological monitoring and associated operations.
  • Use computer programs such as Sentinel and SAP to conduct dose estimation, tracking, and summary reports.
  • Use computer technology to count and analyze samples for radioactivity.
  • Use computer technology in support of meter calibration and equipment maintenance.
  • Use computer technology in support of communicating with other site work teams dealing with ALARA and dose estimates.
  • Use computer technology for general communications and maintaining qualifications.
  • Handle radioactive sources and conduct meter calibrations as necessary to maintain equipment in readiness state.
  • Conduct daily/weekly meter checks and routine (annual/semi-annual) meter calibrations.
  • Handle radioactive sources to provide support for checking in-line radiation monitoring system during monthly, quarterly, and annual surveillance programs
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts
  • This position requires that you maintain your residence within a 60- Minute drive of the nuclear plant in order to meet the Emergency Response Plan requirements
  • Other duties as assigned to support business unit objectives.
