Requirements

  • Sufficient education to obtain a valid California RN license
  • At least 3 years of Oncology experience required
  • Symptom management experience required
  • Registered Nurse Required at hire
  • Basic Life Support Required at hire
  • Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced organizational skills and ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Current knowledge of common cancers and their treatments, including chemotherapies given for diagnoses, such as breast, prostate, lung, brain, and head & neck cancers
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to relay complex medical information to patients at the appropriate level
  • Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills

  • BSN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess, prioritize, and triage patient issues
  • Provide help with symptom management for patients undergoing radiation therapy for cancer
  • Work closely with other specialty practices to coordinate care
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team, serving as a resource for staff and as an advocate for patients
  • Assist department Clinical Nurse Specialist with Quality Improvement projects
