Requirements

  • Minimum Masters in Medical Physics or equivalent degree
  • Minimum American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification eligible

Responsibilities

  • Ensure treatments like proton therapy are delivered safely and accurately.
  • Work with radiation oncologists to design treatment plans that target tumors while protecting healthy tissues.
  • Calibrate radiation doses.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Oversee quality assurance.
  • Instruct medical residents, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists on radiation safety, equipment use, and treatment planning.
  • Mentor students and fellows in clinical techniques.
  • Contribute to the field through research, publications, and involvement in professional organizations.
  • Work on projects to enhance radiation therapy and develop new technologies.
  • Publish research and present at conferences.
  • Serve on committees and boards to help set industry standards and promote best practices.
