About The Position

The Radiation Oncology Nurse is a registered nurse who plays a crucial role in collaboration with the Radiation Oncology Team to deliver continuous and high-quality patient care. This position involves comprehensive assessments and appropriate nursing interventions to address the actual or potential challenges patients may face due to their diagnosis, treatment, and recovery process.

Requirements

• Current Colorado RN license in good standing.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of two years of experience as an RN in Radiation Oncology (not Medical Oncology).
• Ability to quickly adapt in a dynamic clinic environment.
• Effective communication skills with multidisciplinary team members, both written and verbal.
• Coordination of oncology patient care with interdisciplinary staff.
• Flexibility and strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge and skills to provide care to patients across various age groups, developmental stages, and cultural backgrounds.
• Understanding of chronic illness and management of comorbid conditions.
• Current knowledge of trends, skills, procedures, and protocols in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine.
• Familiarity with evidence-based practices in oncology, immunology, pharmacology, community health, and cultural sensitivity.

Nice To Haves

• Applicants must reside at least 75 miles away from the facility.
• Certification in the required area may take up to two weeks to obtain.
• Ensure accurate personal information is maintained in the system to avoid onboarding delays.
• Guaranteed hours will not be offered on holidays for clinic workers.

Responsibilities

• Assess and implement nursing interventions based on patient needs related to disease processes and treatment.
• Provide teaching, counseling, and support to patients and their families to help them cope with cancer diagnosis and treatment.
• Assist in the evaluation and examination of patients alongside the Radiation Oncologist.
• Act as a liaison between Radiation Oncology and other departments, including hospitals and support groups.
• Facilitate appropriate referrals for recovery resources, rehabilitation, nursing home care, hospice, and nutritional services.
