About The Position

We are seeking a Radiation Oncologist for locum tenens coverage at an outpatient clinic within an acute care hospital in Potsdam, NY. This is a clinical-only role, covering three days during the week of December 28, 2026, and three days during the week of January 4, 2027. The clinical shift schedule is typically 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday preferred. No call is required. The patient volume is approximately 10 to 15 adult patients per provider, requiring radiation oncology treatment and management for cancer. The clinic utilizes the Epic EMR system and has support staff including a nurse practitioner and a licensed practical nurse. This coverage is to fill a physician vacation.

Requirements

• Active New York medical license in hand; candidates requiring licensure will not be considered.
• Board certified or eligible in Radiation Oncology (confirmation required).
• BLS and ACLS required (American Heart Association or RQI credentials accepted).
• Minimum two years of recent experience.
• Epic experience required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced radiation therapy, including stereotactic radiosurgery experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients, review medical histories and diagnostic findings, and determine appropriate radiation oncology treatment strategies.
• Develop individualized radiation therapy plans based on cancer type, stage, and location.
• Oversee radiation treatment delivery within the confirmed clinical scope.
• Monitor treatment response, adjust treatment plans as appropriate, and manage treatment-related side effects.
• Collaborate with the oncology team to coordinate care and maintain accurate documentation in Epic.
• Follow department policies, including a required 30-minute lunch break, prior approval for overtime, and at least two hours of notice for an absence.
• Adhere to facility dress, identification, infection prevention, and personal device policies.
