Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Radiation Effects Engineer to join the Target Diagnostic Engineering & Science (TDES) Group at the National Ignition Facility (NIF). This role involves supporting the development and evaluation of target diagnostic hardware and general NIF facility hardware through advanced radiation effects analyses and testing. The engineer will assess radiation-related risks to existing NIF hardware, determine the role of radiation in system faults or performance changes, and lead radiation mitigation activities. The position requires independent technical leadership, project management, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. This role is part of the Laser Systems Engineering & Operations (LSEO) Division within the Engineering Directorate and requires full-time on-site presence. The position can be filled at either the SES.2 or SES.3 level, with additional responsibilities assigned at the higher level.
