About The Position

This is a NON-EXEMPT position that implements the day-to-day programmatic aspects of the Radiological Protection Plan in accordance with all applicable procedures, state and federal regulations. The role involves performing various radiological tasks, supporting industrial hygiene and safety, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Three or more years’ experience in applied health physics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures, work packages, and/or protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and guide radiological support and radiological workers.
  • Demonstrated ability to use radiological instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to source check instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to train junior technicians in the use of radiological instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately document survey and data collection results.
  • Demonstrated ability to use different levels of PPE (including respiratory protection).
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with field, project management, and client representatives.
  • Ability to use and manipulate computer spreadsheets and/or databases for data reduction, presentation, and review.
  • Ability to review and qualify HP/IH data results and calculations (surveys, air monitoring, etc.).
  • Ability to explain data results to non-HP/IH personnel.
  • Ability to use word processing software.

Nice To Haves

  • DOE “L” or “Q” security clearance or the ability to obtain the same, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform air sampling, radiation surveys, radioactive contamination control and monitoring.
  • Operate count room equipment such as smear counters and gamma spectroscopy systems including ISOCS.
  • Manage access control, posting and labeling.
  • Complete and manage records.
  • Respond to accidents and emergencies.
  • Control vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform instrumentation source checks.
  • Conduct personnel and equipment decontamination.
  • Generate radiological data records and review data reports.
  • Support industrial hygiene and industrial safety tasks as cross-trained and required.
  • Perform collateral safety and health duties commensurate with qualifications, aptitude, and ability.
  • Participate in the formulation of action plans in response to identified deficiencies.
  • Perform detailed technical operations in compliance with written work plans, protocols, and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and monitor the performance of technical support in the assigned area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
