About The Position

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Entry-Level Radar Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex sensor and radar orientated problems. Leidos Defense Systems Sector provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide. Solutions for Defense include enterprise and mission IT, large-scale intelligence systems, command and control, geospatial and data analytics, cybersecurity, logistics, training, and intelligence analysis and operations support. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
  • Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a resident of Northern Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong technical background.
  • Ability to apply skills to the areas of radar modeling & simulation, antenna array theory, digital signal processing, tracking, algorithm development, and field testing of sensor systems.
  • Experience working with a team of engineers in solving difficult radar algorithm problems.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Good fundamentals in Digital signal processing.
  • Good fundamentals in Tracker algorithms.
  • Good fundamentals in MATLAB / Python.
  • Good fundamentals in Radar Simulation and Modeling.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional skills in Electromagnetics.
  • Additional skills in Modern C++ development.
  • Familiarity with Linux.
  • MS degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience with radar simulation.
  • Strong background in statistics and probability.

Responsibilities

  • Support advanced technology radar programs including development of radar signal processors, radar tracking algorithms, advanced sensors in EW environments.
  • Simulation of radar systems.
  • Field-testing of RF sensors and systems.
  • Deployment of advanced sensor systems.
  • Work closely with other skilled engineers as they deep-dive into existing algorithms to find areas for improvement in both performance and processing latency.
  • Find newer algorithms available in literature to investigate and determine if they can provide improvements to the various radar programs.
  • Peer reviewing new algorithms developed internally or obtained from industry.
