About The Position

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Radar Engineer Intern to join a diverse team in Summer 2027 to create unique solutions for complex sensor and radar orientated problems. Solutions for Defense include enterprise and mission IT, large-scale intelligence systems, command and control, geospatial and data analytics, cybersecurity, logistics, training, and intelligence analysis and operations support. Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited school with a strong demonstration of the skills listed below.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL, area.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong technical background.
  • Should be able to apply skills to the areas of radar modeling & simulation and software development.
  • Experience working with a team of engineers in solving difficult radar algorithm problems, peer reviewing new algorithms developed internally or obtained from industry.
  • Must have excellent teamwork skills and possess and show good fundamentals in the following: MATLAB / Python, Modern C++ development, Familiarity with Linux

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with radar simulation along with a strong background in statistics and probability.
  • Basic radar knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Support advanced technology radar programs including development of radar signal processors, radar tracking algorithms, advanced sensors in EW environments; simulation of radar systems; field-testing of RF sensors and systems; in addition to the deployment of advanced sensor systems.
  • Work closely with other skilled engineers as they deep-dive into existing algorithms to find areas for improvement in both performance and processing latency.
  • Find newer algorithms available in literature to investigate and determine if they can provide improvements to the various radar programs.
