This role involves performing diagnostic radiological procedures on patients of all ages, requiring independent judgment and initiative. Responsibilities include operating diagnostic equipment, processing images, preparing rooms, and performing related clerical, scheduling, transportation, supply ordering, inventory, and cleaning tasks as needed. The position adheres to radiation protection programs (ALARA) and regulatory compliance standards (DHEC, Joint Commission, ACR). The role may involve direct supervision of students, requiring the employee to have equivalent licensure or training.

  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • Less than 1 year of experience

  • Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all radiographic equipment, perform all radiological procedures, operate the PACS, and utilize radiographic supplies per department standards.
  • Identify each patient and review orders for consistency between examination ordered and clinical diagnosis.
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to the Radiologist, and communicate pertinent data to the patient's care team.
  • Organize patient care and set priorities, providing critical care first and implementing physician's orders.
  • Implement care according to age-specific guidelines, ranging from infancy to geriatrics, in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
  • Adhere to all department/Hospital safety procedures for patient and material handling.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and adherence to the Compliance and Ethics Program.
  • Follow the Radiation Protection Program including ALARA, as low as reasonably achievable for patients, physicians, and personnel.
  • Follow all regulatory compliance for DHEC, Joint Commission, ACR, and any regulatory agency governing radiation safety.
