About The Position

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a RAD Tech (Casual/PRN) to join our Radiology team in Wilmington, Delaware. This role involves performing x-ray procedures, including fluoroscopic procedures, under physician direction. The technologist is responsible for patient care, proper operation of diagnostic equipment, and participation in quality assessment and improvement programs. As a clinically essential associate, the technologist is expected to report for work during inclement weather or code delta events. The role requires strong patient/caregiver interaction skills, knowledge of imaging protocols and radiation safety, and proficiency with radiology equipment and hospital computer systems. Responsibilities also include administering contrast media, screening patients for contraindications, and aiding in the training of new associates and students. The technologist must ensure equipment functions properly, report unsafe conditions, and maintain good communication skills.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited ARRT program required.
Completion of clinical hours in an accredited ARRT program required.
ARRT registration required within 90 days of hire.
State License eligible.
State of Delaware Radiology Technologist license required within 90 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is required upon hire.

Responsibilities

Perform x-ray procedures including fluoroscopic procedures under the direction of a physician with established methods and procedures.
Responsible for patient care, proper operation of all general diagnostic equipment.
Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations, and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of Nemours.
Make every attempt possible to report for work in the event of inclement weather or for a code delta event requiring extra resources.
Responsible for Patient/caregiver interactions and provide accurate preparation instructions to patient/caregiver with the ability to answer pertinent procedural questions.
Responsible for patient identification, proper identification of all images, PACS interaction and documentation.
Operates hospital computer system for patient data entry and retrieval.
Responsible for the preparation, administration, and documentation of contrast media per departmental protocols.
Responsible for screening of patients to be imaged for contraindications that may be hazardous to their health or to the safety of others.
Aids in the training of new associates and students.
Ensure proper function of equipment by proper usage and maintenance.
Reports on unsafe conditions and incidents.
