About The Position
This position involves performing and processing X-rays using portable digital (DR) or computed (CR) radiography equipment. The technologist will take X-ray equipment into facilities to perform exams ordered by physicians, ensuring clinically diagnostic and technically competent images are obtained. The role also includes performing EKGs and transmitting them for interpretation if required. Daily scanning of exam-related paperwork and billing documents, regular communication with dispatch and management, and professional interaction with peers, supervisors, and clients are essential. Maintaining vehicle and X-ray equipment is also a key responsibility. In situations where DR/CR equipment is unavailable, the technologist may need to process film and be aware of chemical hazards and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Maintain required State licenses and/or ARRT Certification, health requirements, and operational requirements.
- Valid driver’s license in the applicable state and in good current standing at all times.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Demonstrate regular attendance.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and work independently with little to no direct supervision.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with possible chemical hazards, controls, and first aid response in the event of skin contact, ingestion, eye splash or spill, as detailed in the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) when processing film.
Responsibilities
- Perform and process X-Rays using portable digital (DR) or computed (CR) radiography equipment and submit/transmit them to a Radiologist for interpretation.
- Unload portable X-Ray equipment and take into facilities to perform exams ordered by the physician, obtaining clinically diagnostic, technically competent x-ray images.
- Perform EKGs (as needed) and transmit them to a Cardiologist for interpretation (if required).
- Scan exam related paperwork/billing documents on a daily basis per protocol.
- Regularly communicate with dispatch and management.
- Communicate efficiently and interact professionally with peers, supervisory staff, and clients.
- Maintain vehicle and x-ray equipment.
- Process film images using chemicals when DR/CR equipment is not functioning or available, understanding chemical hazards, controls, and first aid response.
- Connect and disconnect Holter Monitors (if required).
- Care for equipment in a professional manner and notify supervisor immediately upon malfunction.
- Perform special projects or other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.
- Train other technologists as required.
