About The Position

Responsible for performing all Diagnostic Radiographic exams with minimum supervision. This could also include performing CAT scan exams with minimum supervision, as well. The technologist must maintain all aspects of the Radiology Department including clerical duties with the Radiology office as well as RIS/PACS. The technologist reports directly to the Radiology Manager/Director. The technologist will work the shift assigned by the Manager/Director. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the facility. The role involves performing high quality radiographic procedures in the Radiology department, surgery, or portable exams, utilizing the organization's RIS/PACS systems properly, and being proficient in diagnostic radiography and administration of oral and IV contrast media. The technologist will also perform venipuncture as needed, provide patient explanations, maintain safety regulations, report equipment malfunctions, complete incident reports, and contribute to a positive work climate. Basic CAT scan exams are also part of the responsibilities. Awareness of radiation safety practices, including ALARA, is required. The position requires skills and proficiency in Radiology Technology, acquired through a 2-year accredited AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program (ARRT) and CPR certification. Registration with ARRT is required within one year of employment, and current CPR certification within 30 days. Experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist or registry eligible with ARRT, with the ability to perform all diagnostic radiology exams, is necessary. Training in CT may be provided if no prior experience. Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies, procedures, equipment, forms, and record keeping (RIS/PACS and Powerchart) is expected after a 90-day probation period and/or new employee orientation. The technologist must be familiar with all protocols set by Radiologists to optimize patient care and be proficient in providing patient care to adult, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn patients, as well as proficient in RIS/PACS and Powerchart usage.

Requirements

  • Skills and proficiency in the technical field of Radiology Technology.
  • Completion of a 2 year accredited AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program (ARRT).
  • CPR certified (or within 30 days of employment).
  • Registered or registry eligible with ARRT.
  • Must be registered with ARRT within one year of employment.
  • Responsible for maintaining ARRT licensure.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist or registry eligible with (ARRT) with ability to perform all diagnostic radiology exams.
  • Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, equipment, forms, and all record keeping including RIS/PACS and Powerchart as acquired through a 90-day probation period and/or new employee orientation.
  • Familiarity with all protocols as set forth by the Radiologists that optimizes patient care in our facility.
  • Proficient in the field of Radiology Imaging for providing patient care to adult, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric and newborn patients.
  • Proficient in the usage of the RIS/PACS and Powerchart within the Radiology Dept.

  • Completing incident reports, if necessary.
  • Being a TEAM player as well as a TEAM leader.
  • Contributing to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.
  • Performing related responsibilities as required or directed, including basic CAT scan exams.
  • Being aware of all radiation safety practices, including ALARA.
