About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for an Registered Nurse to join our team! JOB SUMMARY: Accountable for the provision of safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective patient care under the orders of the Radiation Oncologist. Patient care is delivered in compliance with hospital policies and procedures, legal, and regulatory standards. Assists the Radiation Oncologist with special procedures and exams as needed.

Requirements

  • Must hold or obtain current licensure as a Registered Nurse with the Idaho State Board of Nursing.
  • Must hold or obtain current BLS.
  • Must have a basic understanding of hospital based patient care.
  • Must be able to obtain patient vitals, start IV’s, and provide dressings for wound care.
  • Writing/editing English skills necessary to produce appropriate documentation and communications.
  • Must be able to professionally interact with customer patients, families and other staff.
  • Must be able to do arithmetic.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to work well in small teams to accomplish departmental goals.
  • Must be able to take verbal instruction and practically apply it without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment of patient to include collection of assessment data, physical assessment, patient history and evaluation, and collaboration of provider assessment.
  • Develop patient care plan to include appropriate input from all team members, including patient, family, or significant other.
  • Initiates, implements, and documents a patient care plan based on standards of nursing practice, policies, and procedures, established protocols, and professional judgment.
  • Discusses plan of care with patient and family as appropriate.
  • Implements patient care plan by directing and coordinating patient care as ordered by the Radiation Oncologist based on professional standards and protocols.
  • Identifies patient and family care needs as they develop through therapy and appropriately responds with care and information to the patient and family.
  • Evaluates the efficacy of ongoing patient therapy, assures that the patient care is proceeding as ordered by the Radiation Oncologist, and directs appropriate interventions for new clinical findings.
  • Documents all patient care and clinical findings in the patients’ medical record as appropriate and ensures the distribution of the findings to the appropriate clinicians.
  • Provides direct clinical support for the Radiation Oncologists patient clinic to include consultations, follow-ups, weekly on treatment visits, and acute unscheduled visits.
  • Provides radiation specific care to include administration of medications, administration of therapeutic agents, removal of sutures and providing wound care.
  • Practices center-wide and department radiation safety policies and procedures within the As Low As Reasonably Achievable principle.
  • Maintains a safe, neat, orderly and supplied work area.
  • Participates in the educational program, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
