Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Attainment of primary certification within one year of eligibility and post-primary certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Computed Tomography, RT(CT).
  • Post-primary certification in the advanced practice discipline of CT is required for RTs within one year of eligibility and/or per RT licensure in MA or RI.
  • Current RT licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island is required based on location assignment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diversified clinical patient care, technical and related duties within radiography and computed tomography as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Responsible for each assigned patient, perform patient assessments, and correlate clinical findings with exam/procedure request.
  • Obtain pertinent information from patient’s chart and document all data within the EHR.
  • Educate patient for exam.
  • Position patient and select appropriate imaging equipment and supplies.
  • Identify, prepare and/or administer pharmaceuticals related to the exam/procedure.
  • Select technical factors/ parameters/sequences to produce quality images.
  • Properly identify anatomy and evaluate images for technical quality.
  • Apply the principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others and aware of MR safety practices.
  • Assist physicians in performing procedures.
