About The Position

The Club Racquet Sports Associate is responsible for the daily operation of the Racquet Sports Plaza activities which includes indoor and outdoor tennis, pickleball, paddle ball and the Courtside Pro Shop. This fast-paced department will greet all members and guest and assist with their racquet sports needs including daily operations, food, beverage and retail duties. Must be proficient with verbal and written communications, answering the phone, scheduling court reservations, lessons, clinics and mixers. The Racquet Sports Associate is responsible for the administrative support of day–to- day operations for the Racquets staff including filing, taking messages, cleaning, organizing, and other office duties. Must be over 18 years of age and have current TABC certification.

Requirements

  • High school education, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Computer experience, Word, Excel, Internet.
  • Customer service experience in a high-volume setting.
  • TABC license.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift: Physical Stamina: Frequent standing, walking, climbing of ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 30-50lbs. On occasion, push a 50 lb. dolly.
  • Work indoors in a temperature-controlled environment most of the time and sometimes work outdoors in extreme temperatures.
  • Regularly have to use the VAPTR to dry courts outdoors.
  • Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
  • Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
  • Literacy: Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
  • Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of Courtside Pro Shop, including customer service, sales, inventory management, and completing daily operational checklists.
  • Maintains designated areas in a neat, clean, and orderly manner to present a professional and welcoming environment to members, guests, and prospects.
  • Helps answer general racquets questions about pricing, merchandise, and programs.
  • Responsible for operational and technical duties, answering phones, and booking racquets reservations.
  • Assists Racquets professionals daily.
  • Responsible for rolling the outdoor courts in tennis and pickleball dry after rain and grooming the padel courts.
  • Responsible for setting out a table with a tablecloth and collecting the food from The Kitchen for tennis league matches and then putting it up and returning it to The Kitchen once the league is over.
  • Responsible for setting up the ice-cold towel coolers with ice and water.
  • Assist with emptying this water at the end of the evening.
  • Assists with office tasks and needs such as Excel, Word, copying, and filing.
  • Assists with emails, websites, and Houstonian app communication to racquets membership.
  • Billing of hotel guests through the POS system.
  • Assist with transferring all racquet court reservation charges between computer platforms.
  • Assists with month-end inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Must be able to set up the ball machine and operate it properly for members.
  • Perform any other tasks or projects assigned.
  • Safely perform all duties.
  • Protect the establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
  • Product knowledge.
  • Stay focused on the job and limit cell phone usage when on shift.
