About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Plant Maintenance Mechanic with a specialty in precision rotating equipment. As an R&O Maintenance Technician here at Solstice, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and operational efficiency of our equipment and systems. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining high standards of safety and performance in our operations. You will report directly to our Maintenance Manager, and you’ll work out of our Colonial Heights, VA location. In this role, you will impact the success of Solstice by ensuring that maintenance activities are conducted efficiently and effectively, thereby minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.

Requirements

• Specialty in precision rotating equipment.
• Ability to work in tight spaces, at heights, and lift 35 lbs.
• Must be able to work at higher elevations and has Fall Protection training.
• Candidates must be U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status under asylum or refugee.

Responsibilities

• Perform laser or dial-indicator alignment on coupled rotating equipment (Motor-to-Pump, Motor-to-Gearbox) to meet industry-standard tolerances.
• Diagnose and correct soft-foot conditions and baseplate issues to ensure smooth operation.
• Overhaul centrifugal/positive displacement pumps and industrial gearboxes.
• Maintain and troubleshoot complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems.
• Use thermography and basic vibration analysis tools to monitor equipment health.
• Execute safe line breaks on process piping and pump heads; manage flange separation, surface prep, and gasket replacement.
• Reinstall components using calibrated torque wrenches and strict cross-pattern (star) bolting sequences to ensure zero-leak startups.
• Lead and participate in Permit-Required Confined Space Entries (tanks, vessels, pits) following all atmospheric testing and hole-watch protocols.
• Safely handle and contain hazardous chemicals during equipment teardowns, ensuring full compliance with SDS guidelines and environmental regulations.
