About The Position

Research and Development (R&D) lab technicians work within the development and research efforts of their organization. They generally work in a laboratory setting and performs the duties of qualifying and conducts testing/assembly to ensure that products are being tested/assembled correctly and per industry standards. The R&D Lab Technician follows prescribed procedure and conducts product performance testing and characterization. They oversee of gathering data, keeping accurate records, and making sure records are filled correctly. Each R&D Technician share ownership of every test/assembly outcome and oversee safe work practices in the lab. R&D Technicians provide support and is responsible for assisting a researcher or research team with product development projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Proper Personnel Protective Equipment will be worn in designated areas at all times

Nice To Haves

  • Assembly experience preferred
  • 1 - 3 years in related field preferred
  • Knowledge of oil & gas field components preferred

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly prints, and schematics.
  • Operate machines or use hand tools and power tools to secure parts in place.
  • Mount assembly components on panel or printed circuit boards, and connect component lead wires to printed circuits or routes and connect wires between individual component leads and other components using advanced soldering and crimping skills.
  • Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
  • Assemble and attach functional and cosmetic hardware to assemblies using hand tools and power tools.
  • Perform continuity tests on completed assemblies.
  • Perform the assembly, start up, and function test of equipment systems.
  • Troubleshoot systems, make necessary repairs and any corrections to system.
  • Install and verify preferred software.
  • Perform other work related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Operate a variety of manual machines and hand tools.
  • Blueprint reading and manufacturing routing.
  • Operate equipment (Forklift, crane, etc.) and specialized hand tools/power tools.
  • Perform mechanical assembly quality checks and troubleshooting.
  • Performs tasks associated with troubleshooting, testing, and assembling mechanical assemblies for drilling control systems for both surface and subsea applications.
  • Assists in configuring, preparing, maintaining, utilizing test stations and test equipment for factory and system acceptance testing such as hydrostatic pressure and flushing.
  • Setup, operates, test, repair and/or modify a variety of mechanical equipment, systems and devices.
