The RD&A Technician will support the Research, Development & Applications team by preparing flavor ingredients, assisting in scale‑up activities, maintaining lab operations, and partnering closely with Flavorists, Developers, Tech Ops, Quality, and Operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to execute precise technical work in a fast‑paced, innovation‑driven environment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • Basic understanding of flavor chemistry, food science, or sensory science.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise formulas, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Good organizational, time‑management, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work safely with laboratory equipment, chemicals, and food ingredients.
  • Strong organizational and record‑keeping abilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in cross‑functional teams.
  • Effective communication skills for reporting, documentation, and project collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, co‑op, or academic coursework related to flavor technology, food product development, or applied food science.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as balances, mixers, reactors, analytical tools, and pilot‑plant systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and mix flavor ingredients with precision for use in food, beverage, and other consumable products.
  • Execute sample preparation requests, including benchtop batches, pilot‑scale quantities, and trial-size samples.
  • Support Flavorists and Developers in formula execution, optimization, and scale‑up activities.
  • Organize, track, and maintain raw materials, chemicals, and lab supplies needed for sample preparation.
  • Maintain cleanliness, calibration, and proper functioning of lab and pilot‑plant equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, hygiene, quality, and regulatory standards within the laboratory environment.
  • Work closely with RD&A, Technical Operations, Quality Control, and Operations teams to support project goals.
  • Assist with product evaluations, stability checks, and troubleshooting exercises as needed.
  • Support shipping and sampling requirements, including preparation of standard shipping materials and maintenance of the designated shipping area.
  • Follow precise protocols and SOPs for formula execution, equipment use, batching, labeling, and record‑keeping.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of samples, batch sheets, test results, and inventory updates.
