About The Position

Constructs, maintains, and tests mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. Identifies parts for replacement and machines that need new parts and places orders as necessary. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Supports the Engineering and Design Group. Typically reports to R&D Tech IV or Engineering Manager.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required
• Two years minimum of related R&D Technician experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides

Nice To Haves

• graduate of a technical/vocational training program is preferred
• Industry Certification Preferred
• Welding experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Use specialized equipment such as tape measure, band saw, oxygen/acetylene cutting torches, hand grinders, drill press, shot blasters, steam cleaner etc.
• Perform basic metalworking duties such as measuring, cutting, grinding, drilling and deburring parts.
• Operate forklift to unload and handle raw materials.
• Maintain test standards and equipment in accordance with ISO procedures.
• Assemble components using basic hand tools.
• Read and follow blueprints and work instructions.
• Welding together parts from raw materials using blueprints
• Perform a wide range of shop duties to support the Engineering Group.
