About The Position

Clorox is seeking an R&D Technical Services Specialist for its Innovation Services team to support cleaning brands. This role is crucial for delivering on Clorox’s innovation and growth goals by supporting new product development experiments and process trials. The position involves large-scale batching in the cleaning pilot plant, supporting the packaging group with testing and qualifications, working with various equipment, managing a packaging database, and potentially doing programming work. The individual will collaborate with scientists and team leads on equipment and test method development and improvements. This role is based in Pleasanton, CA, with an expected 5-day work week (Monday to Friday).

Requirements

  • 2+ years of technical experience in a laboratory, working with different testing equipment, R&D work.
  • Mechanical skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to lift 50lbs in a safe ergonomically correct manner.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and collaborate with internal team members and external vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Excel, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Complete package testing on primary, secondary, and full pallets for all cleaning products, providing test data to R&D scientists and technicians.
  • Perform a wide range of packaging lab tests, from full pallet vibration testing to gathering CMM dimensions on individual parts.
  • Maintain clear and concise records of test data in the database and other storage locations, communicating information to the team in a timely manner.
  • Batch large-scale formulations using both tank batching and continuous batching systems.
  • Prepare test samples for laundry and hard surface cleaning.
  • Complete QC tests on samples and operate/maintain lab equipment.
  • Keep clear and concise records of batches created and report results to the team.
  • Maintain excellent EPA records for registered products processed.
  • Learn and stay updated on all test methods in the Cleaning Pilot Plant and CPL/PDL.
  • Assist with the development of new test methods as needed.
  • Work with Team Leads and other Specialists to implement new equipment and learn new testing protocols.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in work areas.
  • Collaborate with the Tech Services Team to implement safety upgrades.
  • Participate in Hazop review teams in work areas.
  • Write SOPs to guide requestors and operators on safe and efficient equipment operation when appropriate.
