Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, or Industrial), Control Systems and Software, or related field and 7 years of experience in the job offered or in a R&D Staff Engineer, Equipment Development-related occupation.
  • Manufacturing systems, and manufacturing process development and operations in a medical device production environment
  • Hardware and software for manufacturing test systems
  • Developing and validating manual and automated assembly equipment
  • Using statistical analysis techniques and Design of Experiments, and applying gauging techniques and subsequent Measurement Systems Analyses
  • Leading equipment development with an external equipment supplier
  • Troubleshooting manufacturing related mechanical, electrical, and software issues
  • Implementing manufacturing process improvements and driving efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and qualification efforts of medical device technologies assembly lines to meet cost, quality and performance targets.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to drive product and process solutions to market.
  • Provide technical support to drive development, qualification and stabilization execution.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing & Assembly techniques, Lean Six Sigma process knowledge, and the Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) tools to drive product design to its most efficient outcome.
  • Apply engineering principles to resolve technical challenges, and leverage project management practices to drive a complex project portfolio.
  • Write Protocols and Completion Reports in compliance with FDA regulations that withstand audit scrutiny.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing line including troubleshooting and solving critical issues to optimize scrap and efficiency.
  • Leverage mechanical skills related to working with machine shops.
  • Use CAD (Computer Aided Design) to create drawings and relate ideas to the machine shop for manufacturing of production parts.
  • Leverage PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) related to the qualification and validation of software systems, to troubleshoot and document issues for software fixes.
  • Qualify Vision Systems used in manufacturing, and implement best practices to ensure the Vision Systems work correctly and reliably.
  • Travel internationally to provide assembly and test equipment development, startup, and launch support outside the US (primarily Mexico).
  • Train on-site engineers, technicians, and operators on equipment function and troubleshooting.
  • May work at various unanticipated locations throughout U.S., including El Paso, TX.
