The R&D Specialist supports the development, optimization, and commercialization of innovative food and nutritional products. This hands-on role performs laboratory and pilot-scale testing, formulation development, raw material evaluation, sample preparation, technical troubleshooting, and product testing while partnering with customers and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related scientific discipline.
  • 2–5 years of experience in food product development, formulation, or R&D.
  • Experience with laboratory and/or pilot-scale operations.
  • Experience developing food applications involving dry ingredients or powders.
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a cross-functional environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Spray drying experience preferred.
  • Experience in functional foods, nutraceuticals, dietary supplements, sports nutrition, or related markets preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize food, nutritional, and functional ingredient formulations.
  • Operate laboratory and pilot-scale equipment, including spray dryers, mixers, and homogenizers.
  • Conduct experiments, analytical testing, sensory evaluations, and application testing.
  • Evaluate raw materials and troubleshoot formulation and process challenges.
  • Prepare samples for customer evaluations, pilot trials, and commercialization.
  • Support product scale-up and transfer from R&D to production.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records, documentation, and laboratory procedures.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Operations, Commercial, suppliers, and customers.
  • Maintain compliance with GMPs, food safety requirements, SOPs, and BRC standards.
  • Support continuous improvement, employee training, and special projects.
