Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering major (Senior undergraduate, Master's, or PhD student preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Digital Communications, or equivalent knowledge of PAM signaling, scramblers, equalization (FFE/DFE), timing recovery, and eye-diagram analysis.
  • Strong understanding of linear algebra, including least-squares methods, regularization techniques (Ridge/Tikhonov), and condition numbers.
  • Proficiency with Python and MATLAB, as well as at least one compiled programming language (C# or C++).
  • Completion of, or demonstrated proficiency in, Signals and Systems.
  • Completion of, or demonstrated proficiency in, Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
  • Foundational knowledge of FFTs, filtering, and time- and frequency-domain analysis.
  • Willingness to work at the Keysight Colorado Springs, CO site.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong interest in high-speed signals and signal integrity.
  • Prior project experience involving signal processing.
  • Prior project experience involving measurement or laboratory-based research.
  • Exposure to wired PHY-layer technologies (e.g., Automotive Ethernet, 1000BASE-T, PCIe).
  • Exposure to the Keysight Infiniium framework or oscilloscope automation.
  • Exposure to Wireshark or Scapy.
  • Experience interpreting IEEE standards.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a Signal Separation Project focused on Automotive Ethernet Full Duplex Standards.
  • Work with real-time oscilloscope waveform data, high-bandwidth voltage probes, current probes, and test fixtures.
  • Understand automotive communication standards from technical specifications.
  • Validate performance using the oscilloscope's protocol decoder, rather than relying solely on eye-diagram metrics.
  • Design controlled experiments and document negative as well as positive results.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the project, including justification for all selected constants and parameters.
