Our network of 30+ North American and European laboratories serves the food & beverage, dietary supplements, cosmetics, OTC, tobacco/nicotine, cannabis, and hemp industries. The R&D Scientist is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the company's chemistry R&D program and resources, including both internal and client-initiated development activities.

Requirements

  • 5 years of industry experience
  • GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS experience required
  • Pesticide Residue Analysis experience
  • Method Development and Validation experience

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field, preferred
  • M.Sc and significant related experience

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Director, Chemistry to develop, update and prioritize the company's R&D program.
  • Responsible for the hands-on activities within the company's R&D program including extractions, instrumental analysis and data processing, ensuring both internal and external deliverables and deadlines are met.
  • Day-to-day supervision of the R&D Technicians and other resources allocated to the R&D function.
  • Works closely with other scientists to ensure the company leverages its resident knowledge.
  • Responsible for liaison with clients on R&D activities including providing regular status reports, meetings etc.
  • Works closely with the Manager, Data Integrity and Quality Systems Manager to ensure that all newly developed / modified methods are promptly documented and integrated within our Quality / LIMS systems. This will also include timely submission to our accreditor(s) for addition to our external accreditation(s) as appropriate.
  • Report on the status of R&D program / projects during administrative meetings (e.g. ARC).
  • Train technologist/technician / analyst to implement new / modified methods as necessary.
  • Has the Authorization to stop the work, to approve planned deviations, and to submit reports to clients.
  • The employee shall implement the Laboratory Quality Policy and perform their duties in accordance to existing project specific requirements, current Test Methods, study plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Compliance to Health & Safety policies and procedures and wear required Personal Protective equipment at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
