About The Position

H.B. Fuller’s R&D Pathways Rotational Program offers recent graduates a unique opportunity to build technical expertise, gain exposure to diverse chemistries, and develop business acumen. As an R&D Pathways Scientist I, you will receive mentorship, lead impactful projects, and contribute to innovation across multiple business units during a 1 – 2-year rotational experience. The initial role is based at our World Headquarters in Vadnais Heights, MN. After successful completion of the rotational experience, you will move into other R&D or related positions located at one of our research centers or facilities.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science, with expected graduation in spring 2026.
  • Coursework should include organic chemistry I and II.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in laboratory and manufacturing environments.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to manufacturing facilities and laboratories across the U.S.
  • Willingness to relocate after completing the 1-2 year rotational experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify causal relationships and develop practical solutions.
  • Experience with technical documentation and communicating scientific findings to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively on cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and analyze experiments on organic and inorganic substances to evaluate chemical and physical properties and explore industrial applications.
  • Design and execute experiments to improve or replicate materials, and research new processing or production methods.
  • Apply and interpret standard scientific theories, concepts, and techniques to support product and process development.
  • Manage and complete multiple projects independently, drawing conclusions and articulating results, including business impact and value propositions.
  • Document test results, project updates, and process improvement recommendations using project management methodologies.
