As an R&D Optics Engineer Intern , you will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development projects that help shape the future of eye care. This internship is based at our Fort Worth, TX location. In this role, a typical day will include: Carry out extensive research in optical design and optical metrology using AI (Artificial Intelligence), primarily in accommodative and refractive correction research areas. Design proprietary optics optimized for human vision and provide reliable optical metrology for performance inspection. Plan, conduct, and execute IOL (Intraocular Lens)-related research and development under general supervision.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college for at least one semester prior to the internship, and at least one additional semester following your internship
  • Must be pursuing a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Optics, Physics, Data Science, or Computer Science.
  • Academic performance: Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects).
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis. Students on an F1 visa with CPT work authorization may be accommodated.
  • Ability to commit to a 10-12 weeks summer internship, full time (40 hrs./week) project

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with optical design, optical engineering, and optical software like Zemax or Code V.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence.
