About The Position

All internship positions are designed to give college students an opportunity to apply techniques learned in an academic setting while obtaining new skills. This is a paid internship offering full-time hours during the summer months. All interns are required to conclude the program by giving a formal presentation on their work. Please note that no relocation assistance or sponsorship is provided for the internship program at this time. The Research and Development (R&D Science) group at ProteinSimple, a Bio-Techne brand, is seeking an inquisitive and motivated student to join our growing team on our mission to develop game-changing analytical instrumentation. If you have background in life science and have interest in learning how to apply your knowledge in the biotech industry, this might be the opportunity for you. You’ll get hands-on experience and work in an incredibly collaborative environment, contributing to development of innovative analytical tools for better medicines. Please note that this internship position is available at either the undergraduate or graduate level, with requirements by level detailed below. This is a full-time paid internship program which will start in May, June or July 2026 (flexible scheduling). You will work closely with a team of scientists to learn, perform, and analyze laboratory experiments performed on ProteinSimple’s cutting-edge, capillary electrophoresis instruments. You will also have the opportunity to learn and collaborate with other departments within product development (e.g., hardware and software engineering). Your work will contribute to the ongoing development of new and existing products to help advance Bio-Techne's evolving portfolio.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate degree in life science (preferred major in biology, microbiology, immunobiology, biomedical, bioengineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or related fields) and some lab experience
  • Must have completed (at minimum) the sophomore year of college
  • Must be able to work full-time on-site during the duration of the internship program
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Basic laboratory skills including pipetting, solution preparation and knowledge of basic laboratory calculation are required

  • Working knowledge of python (or similar) programming language is preferred
  • Experience handling, processing, and analyzing large datasets is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, execute, and optimize experimental plans and protocols
  • Prepare samples, buffers, and reagents for testing
  • Analyze, interpret, and troubleshoot results
  • Leverage data science skills to automate data processing and reporting
  • Document and present experimental findings
  • Participate in technical discussions and weekly team meetings
  • Follow guidelines and comply with all company safety, quality, and training procedures and regulations
