Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Marvin Land Systems (MLS).  Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment.  Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. Our collaboration extends across a diverse array of programs and platforms, including major military prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.  SCOPE This position requires a strong background in Procurement of mechanical components and assemblies. The ideal candidate will be experienced with selecting suppliers based on engineering requirements, suppliers’ capabilities and suppliers’ capacity. Functioning as R&D Engineering’s Supplier Liaison, the ideal candidate must be able to effectively communicate with suppliers on a technical and procurement level. The ideal candidate will have experience with navigating and being integral to the Procurement process though an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The candidate should have practical experience in Manufacturing and Quality Assurance for machined components and sub-assemblies, preferably for use in military or commercial aviation.   The R&D Manufacturing Engineer (ME) role is an interdisciplinary position which facilitates easy and accurate flow of information between R&D Design Engineering, Technical Program Managers, Procurement and Suppliers. This requires the candidate to work across a range of organizational and technical skills boundaries. The R&D ME must be flexible and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment as a member of a team.  The R&D ME should also be a self-starter to excel as individual contributor, requiring minimal oversight.   The priorities of the R&D ME will evolve as the different programs within R&D Engineering advance through the Product Development Lifecycle. The roles of the R&D ME will include, but not limited to: producibility evaluation, selecting suppliers, R&D procurement, supplier liaison, R&D source inspection and R&D receiving and managing of non-turnkey parts.      

Requirements

  • 15 years of experience in Procurement or Sourcing of Mil-DoD, Aerospace or Commercial Aviation mechanical components or assemblies.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Manufacturing Engineering and minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing and/or Sourcing of Mil-DoD, Aerospace or Commercial Aviation mechanical components or assemblies.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with the workflow of traditional metallic manufacturing processes such as turning, milling, forging, extruding, plating, grinding, welding, non-destructive testing, etc.
  • Must be skilled in using Enterprise Resource Planning software. SAP is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform basic measurements and simple inspection processes using standard measuring equipment.
  • Must have experience with MIL-STD documents and interpretating ASME Y14.5 drawings.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.  Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
  • This candidate for position must meet export control and other special program access compliance requirements.  All applicants must be U.S. citizens, with no secondary (dual) citizenship permissible.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for aerospace materials for aerospace requirements is highly desirable.  Knowledge should include manufacturing techniques, their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses.  Prior assembly line or shop experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge/experience in Quality Assurance processes and disciplines, including inspection, identification, and disposition of nonconforming materials is a plus.
  • Being able to review CAD models to assist designers and vendors is a plus.
