This technical-level position supports Orenco Research & Development projects through coordination, servicing, troubleshooting, sampling, testing, maintenance, and reporting. The analyst works in both field and laboratory environments, follows and helps develop Standard Operating Procedures for wastewater sample collection and analysis, and learns about wastewater treatment systems and how to characterize their performance. The role works with the Research Manager and R&D Team to plan prototype evaluation, carry out analytical testing within expected turnaround times, and maintain quality control. Field work includes collecting and analyzing samples from R&D prototypes, monitoring systems in situ through field measurements, and maintaining or troubleshooting prototype operation. Laboratory work includes executing and improving testing procedures, maintaining equipment and inventory, coordinating hazardous-waste removal, analyzing data, and preparing reports. Maintaining safe laboratory and test-facility environments is critical. Work is during regular business hours, coordinated with coworkers for coverage; occasional early or later hours may be needed. Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required, and other duties may be assigned. A bachelor's degree in a physical science or related discipline is required. Training, experience, or certifications in field servicing and laboratory techniques are ideal, and on-the-job training will be provided to address gaps. The role requires at least 3–5 years of job- or industry-related experience, preferably in laboratory or field sampling work. The analyst must hold or be willing to obtain onsite field sampling, operations, and maintenance certifications, maintain a valid Oregon driver's license and satisfactory driving record, and meet company insurability requirements.
