About The Position

Under direct supervision, the R&D Lab Technician applies functional and technical knowledge to assist the Research and Development team with engineering projects, product development, and laboratory compliance. The role assists with testing products and prototypes using UL standardized testing methods and emphasizes initiative, attention to detail, and completing work correctly and to high standards.

The technician works in a laboratory environment maintaining ISO 17025 compliance for UL DAP accreditation. Duties include maintaining and repairing laboratory and prototyping equipment, documenting calculations and comparing results in controlled databases, conducting product tests, conveying results, and preparing test reports as needed. The role also requires effective teamwork and operation of basic machine tools.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical and problem-solving aptitude.
• Good organizational skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree or technical trade education in engineering or a similar technical program.
• Certifications in related disciplines such as machine design, fabrication, and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of industry-specific regulatory standards such as ASTM, ISO, UL, and RoHS.

Responsibilities

• Work in a laboratory environment that maintains ISO 17025 compliance for UL DAP accreditation.
• Perform repairs and routine maintenance on laboratory and prototyping equipment.
• Use basic computer skills to document calculations and compare results in controlled databases.
• Perform product testing related to UL code specifications and QA/QC requirements.
• Understand and clearly convey testing results.
• Generate or complete test reports where necessary.
• Communicate clearly and efficiently while working as a team member.
• Operate basic machine tools, including a drill press, milling machine, and lathe.
