About The Position

Do you want to make a real impact on patients? As part of our team, you’ll be developing breakthroughs that will benefit patients across the care continuum. As an R&D Intern, this position works both individually and alongside the cross-functional engineering team to assist in Stroke and Robotics Device new product development projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of college-level coursework in an engineering discipline and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Strong curiosity and eagerness and willingness to learn
  • Familiar with R&D equipment used for prototyping common medical devices (hot boxes, adhesives, soldering, bonding, fuse joining)
  • Proficient with SolidWorks for drawing and designing tooling, fixtures, devices, and related items
  • Knowledge of common materials (polymers, metals, chemicals) used in medical device fabrication
  • Strong organizational skills; including management of multiple priorities and time constraints
  • Good interpersonal skills, effective written and verbal communication, and partnership with R&D and other cross-functional departments

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with machining and rapid prototyping (3D printing) tools; tensile (Instron) testing, simulated use, or other related test methods a plus

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, development, and prototyping of new product concepts, refinement of existing product designs, and the development and implementation of test procedures, methods, and fixtures
  • Design, plan, and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate the feasibility of concepts and existing product designs
  • Collect and review test data against established acceptance criteria and document within written test reports
  • Interact with cross-functional engineers and team members to understand clinical, functional, and user requirements
  • Document relevant information (i.e., new ideas, test results, build procedures, etc.) according to good laboratory practices or related company procedures
