About The Position

We are Covestro, a company that refines chemical material solutions with game-changing products. Our strategy focuses on customer and market needs, driving sustainable growth, and becoming fully circular by transforming our plants to carbon and resource-neutral facilities. As an intern, you will learn about Covestro products, including their chemistry, applications, end uses, customer base, and future business opportunities. You may gain hands-on experience in a research environment and observe our technical and commercial operations. You will apply your knowledge to R&D projects, supporting new product/technology development that addresses real-world problems, from next-generation engineering plastics to material solutions for the circular economy. This internship program is offered in the summer of 2027 at our Baytown, TX site and will last approximately 12 weeks.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Completion of Sophomore year or higher
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to interact and establish strong working relationships with diverse individuals.
  • Project coordination with the ability to be proactive and identify creative, effective technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated PC skills and ability to work within Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Chemistry major
  • Completion of Junior year

Responsibilities

  • Work with the site transformation team to support business unit’s circular economy targets.
  • Support new application and product development teams through formulation, processing, design, and testing of Covestro materials and applications.
  • Potentially work with senior chemists and engineers in a fast-paced technology environment.
  • Become actively involved in the day-to-day operations at the site or supporting new technology development.
