About The Position

Hologic’s Medical Imaging Engineering Team is seeking a mechanical engineering co-op to contribute hands-on to mechanical design, prototyping, and testing for medical imaging equipment. The role involves collaborating with engineers from varied backgrounds and supporting product lifecycle changes, including end-of-life replacements. The co-op is a 10–12 week opportunity during the spring co-op cycle (January through June/July), with full-time availability required. The position is onsite at Hologic’s Marlborough, Massachusetts campus. Co-op housing, relocation assistance, and housing stipends are not provided; candidates need to arrange their own living situation and transportation. Pay is $26–$28 per hour, based on class standing and operational function. The role offers opportunities for growth, networking, mentorship, and skill-building.

Requirements

Available to work full-time during the spring co-op cycle, January through June/July.
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with at least one semester remaining after the co-op.
Major in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Entering junior or senior year.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Resourceful problem-solving skills and willingness to take initiative.
Experience with 3D solid modeling design tools, specifically SolidWorks and PDM Works.
Familiarity with mechanical drafting principles and product design fundamentals.
Experience with 3D fabrication, machining, or sheet metal work.

Responsibilities

Create 3D mechanical CAD designs and 2D mechanical drawings using SolidWorks.
Analyze, prototype, and test mechanical concepts using traditional machining and 3D printing.
Help write technical reports and communicate findings to the team.
Collaborate with engineers from different backgrounds and contribute ideas.
Support lifecycle changes, including end-of-life replacements for imaging equipment.
