This position reports to: Chapter Lead (ELSP Pilot) In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team. The work model for the role is: hybrid This role is contributing to the ReliaGear Switchboard product line in the North American Market. You will be mainly accountable for: The Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and manufacturing implementation of engineering programs that meet business standards and program / product requirements Design, develop, analyze, and document product designs which meet the functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements of the customer or market Create and maintain technical documentation for all design work and present material for technical review including but not limited to tolerance loops, drawings, bill of materials, product cost, problem and action lists, risk management, and failure root cause analysis reviews Execute designs with solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) to create models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and BOMs for designs which may include plastic, stamped metal, and electrically conductive parts Lead and support new product introduction (NPI) activities within a manufacturing environment, ensuring smooth transition from design to production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Mechanical engineering preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, technical design role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze technical issues and implement effective solutions quickly
  • Self-motivated and proactive, capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks with minimal supervision
  • Experience in mechanical design, including 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation in PTC Creo (or similar CAD tools) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • The Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and manufacturing implementation of engineering programs that meet business standards and program / product requirements
