About The Position

We are searching for a motivated undergraduate student to join the Fluids Dynamics and Acoustic Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. This fall/spring internship will concentrate on research to enhance their readiness for successful and impactful careers in engineering, tribology, and/or national security. ARL’s purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

Requirements

  • Undergraduate students majoring in Aerospace Engineering
  • Willingness to learn
  • Organizational skill
  • Understanding of multiple computer languages
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be eligible to obtain a government security clearance, participate in the ARL drug testing program, and comply with electronic and physical monitoring requirements applicable to federal contractors.

Nice To Haves

  • Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher is preferred.
  • You may also be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering testing, data analysis, and data visualization
  • Perform hands-on work in a laboratory environment
  • Use multiple computing languages, analysis tools, simulations, and measurement systems
