The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000 per yr./. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location. Job Position Summary This position will perform research and development activities related to the O&M Products & Healthcare Services Portfolio. This person will lead R&D activities on small to medium-sized projects and will support senior engineers or work with Project Managers on larger programs. Responsibilities will include Product Design& Development, Cost Savings, and Sustaining Engineering activities. This person helps define product requirements, prototype concepts, develop manufacturable designs and test product to meet defined specifications. The job requires working collaboratively with cross functional teams including Product Managers, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, and Manufacturing Engineers. This position will be focused on our Medical, Consumer, Cleanroom, and Industrial Gloves portfolio. The role will involve working with our internal gloves manufacturing team as well as engaging with contract manufacturers and purchased finished good suppliers of a wide range of disposable gloves.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or Science Related Field with 2+ years of relevant experience OR MS in Engineering with 0+ Years OR PhD in Engineering with 0+ Years
  • The candidate should have strong project management, analytical, and communication skills, along with the ability to work well with a diverse group of teammates
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis tools and/or software
  • Previous industry experience working on development or change management of class I or II medical devices
  • Knowledge of Quality System Regulations (Design Control and Process Validation) compliant with the FDA and other regulatory agencies
  • Previous experience resolving technical issues and implementing solutions
  • Ability to lead and manage small to medium scope projects
  • Ability to interface effectively with health care professionals and medical device customers
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% (must have the ability to obtain a passport)

Responsibilities

  • Typically works as a contributor to projects of all types or leads small-medium projects of lower complexity.
  • Works independently with low to mid level of guidance from more senior engineers and management.
  • Completes basic to moderately complex engineering tasks with some oversight
  • Understands a wide range of technical principles, theories and techniques applied to design and manufacturing; incorporates leading-edge thinking into projects and plans
  • Deals with change and ambiguity on projects by proposing options that result in potential solutions
  • Makes technical decisions with little to moderate assistance; seeks assistance as appropriate from Team Leader or senior members of the team.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while aligning with cross-functional team members
  • Effectively understands customer requirements and acts to make sure that expectations are met or exceeded
  • May provide guidance and work direction to lower level engineers
  • Coaches peers to improve their skills and outcomes within R&D in a specific area of expertise; may supervise/lead technicians, co-ops or interns
  • Documents work appropriately within defined procedures.
  • Generate and analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications
  • Learn about intellectual property, the differences between patents & trade secrets, and patent approaches in other countries.
  • Create and document intellectual property according to established company procedures
  • Develops effective schedules with collaboration from cross-functional team and management; independently follows agreed upon path/strategy/priority with minimal follow up or direction; independently makes decisions; obtains appropriate buy-in and ownership of tasks from other groups as needed; plans tasks that have multiple variables and are not well defined and drives necessary decisions
