About The Position

Munters is seeking a curious, hands-on R&D Electrical Systems and Test Engineer to design electrical and control systems and help develop, build, test, and improve air-treatment technologies. The role combines computer-based engineering with practical work on industrial equipment, including PLCs, instrumentation, prototypes, and test systems. The engineer will take projects from concept and design through testing and completion, working with teams across engineering and the business. The position involves occasional travel of approximately 5%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Approximately 2–5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, controls, automation, or industrial equipment.
  • Experience designing electrical control systems and creating schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience working with PLC-based controls.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical and controls equipment.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability and interest to work directly with equipment in R&D, laboratory, manufacturing, and field environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software.
  • Knowledge of UL 508A and UL 1995.
  • Experience with VFDs, sensors, instrumentation, motors, industrial communications, or data acquisition systems.
  • Exposure to HVAC, air-handling, or industrial dehumidification equipment.
  • Experience with SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical control systems, including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and electrical calculations.
  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs, primarily on Siemens and Allen-Bradley platforms.
  • Support the build, testing, modification, and commissioning of control panels, prototypes, and test systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control systems involving PLCs, VFDs, sensors, motors, instrumentation, and industrial communications.
  • Install and configure controls hardware and electrical components.
  • Plan and conduct engineering tests, analyze data, document results, and recommend improvements.
  • Help maintain and continuously improve the R&D laboratory and testing capabilities.
  • Take ownership of projects from concept and design through testing and completion.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, product management, service, and other teams to solve technical challenges.
  • Create and maintain drawings, bills of materials, test procedures, reports, and other engineering documentation.
