Requirements

  • Associates degree in technical areas such as engineering, design (CAD), or similar.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair 3D printing equipment required.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware and troubleshooting as it relates to printing systems required.
  • Understanding of computer networking concepts applicable to printing operations required.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering drawings, CAD models, and measurement methods required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and Word required.
  • This role may require less than 5% travel.
  • Candidates should be comfortable with occasional travel as needed to support business objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of experience with 3D printing in a manufacturing or engineering setting.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant materials used in the practice of 3D printing.
  • Stratasys certification as a level 2 or higher operator.
  • Basic CAD skills for model interrogation and manipulation.
  • Familiarity with FDM, PolyJet, and resin-based additive technologies, including Digital Light Projector (DLP), Continuous Liquid Interface Production (CLIP), and Stereolithography Apparatus (SLA).
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in 3D printing, additive manufacturing, or related fields.
  • Coursework or certification in Design or Manufacturing with a focus on 3D printing.

Responsibilities

  • Owns prototype delivery and quality for the area to support efficient product development and manufacturing.
  • Contributes to the strategy of 3D printing within the company with respect to future capability and capacity expansion as the subject matter expert.
  • Collaborates with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to meet customer requirements, including referencing CAD models in Creo or Solidworks.
  • Sets up 3D printers, including loading/unloading material spools, filling resin cassettes, preparing software programs, scheduling jobs, and sending prints to various machines using multiple technologies.
  • Prepare parts for post-processing, following standard procedures.
  • Performs preventive maintenance, including cleaning, preventative upkeep, and minor repairs, in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Executes secondary processing such as media blasting, sanding, and general assembly.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area through 5S and general facility upkeep.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and print issues to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Handles occasional administrative tasks such as inventory management, material ordering, and part packaging.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned to meet business needs.
