About The Position

York Building Products is looking for a Quartz Plant Operator to join our night-shift crew and help turn raw quartz sand into a high-purity product used in the glass industry. This isn’t a sit-behind-a-desk kind of job. You’ll be running equipment, watching the process, testing product, solving problems, and keeping things moving. If you’re mechanically minded, dependable, and like having a job where every shift brings something different, this could be your next move. Working nights means you'll be an important part of keeping production moving around the clock. You’ll work both indoors and outdoors and deal with heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, and whatever else Mother Nature decides to throw at you. This is physical, hands-on work. You’ll need to be comfortable standing, walking, climbing, squatting, shoveling, pushing, pulling, crawling, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

  • You like working with big equipment and machinery.
  • You’re mechanically minded and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.
  • You’re comfortable working independently and making decisions within your responsibilities.
  • You’re a problem solver who can think outside the box.
  • You pay attention to the details — especially when it comes to quality and safety.
  • You can work with computers, production records, and quality data.
  • You have experience in an asphalt, sand, aggregate, or similar processing plant.
  • You’ve worked with dryers, screens, conveyors, or other processing equipment.
  • You’re willing to work overtime and weekends when the operation needs you.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor the fluidized bed dryer, conveyors, bucket elevators, screens, and other processing equipment.
  • Keep a close eye on the process and make adjustments to keep production running smoothly.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
  • Run quality control tests and analyze results to make sure our quartz meets specifications.
  • Monitor material quality and make adjustments when needed.
  • Provide loading instructions to truck drivers.
  • Record production, quality, and other plant information using basic computer systems.
  • Help with equipment repairs, maintenance, cleanup, and housekeeping.
  • Communicate production and maintenance needs to plant management.
  • Troubleshoot problems and think on your feet when things don't go according to plan.
  • Follow all YBP and MSHA safety rules and procedures.
  • Pitch in wherever needed to keep the operation safe, clean, and running strong.
