About The Position

Rogers Group, Inc. is seeking a Quarry Utility Worker for their Jacks Mountain Quarry located in Glade Hill, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment and maintaining a safe designated work area. This role involves operating skid loaders, heavy-duty off-road earth or rock-moving equipment, and performing preventative maintenance. The company is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company with a significant presence across 13 states.

Requirements

• Ability to operate skid loader and other pieces of heavy equipment
• Ability to use cutting torch and welder
• Ability to work well with peers and management in all situations.
• Ability to maintain good time management
• Ability to multi-task
• Must be mechanically inclined
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 50 hours a week and overtime as dictated by production demands.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• At least 1 year experience working in a rock quarry is preferred.
• Some experience with using a cutting torch and welder is preferred.
• Some experience with operating smaller pieces of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate skid loaders, heavy duty off-road, earth or rock moving equipment (such as rigid frame/articulated haul units, off-road haul trucks, and/or wheel loaders), and other pieces of heavy equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance such as greasing and clean-up.
• Understand basic functions of various types of heavy equipment.
• Pre-shift each equipment that is used every day.
• Abide by all company safety guidelines.
• Maintain adequate guarding at and around all pinch points.
• Understand proper berm heights and maintain them as needed.
