About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Mobile Equipment Supervisor, responsible for operating mobile equipment throughout the plant in accordance with its intended purpose. This role involves loading, transporting, and stockpiling raw materials and coal, stripping overburden, hauling trash and dust, and operating equipment for construction or repair of plant facilities. The operator will maintain a safe working environment, adhere to safety policies, perform daily housekeeping and inspections, and be familiar with various safety regulations and procedures including MSHA safety rules, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, emergency response, and proper material disposal. The position also requires ensuring quality of work, participating in continuous improvement, observing best practices, good time management, and troubleshooting skills. The operator will work where and when needed to meet plant needs and will be required to operate all quarry equipment, including a water truck for dust control.

Requirements

  • Two years’ heavy-equipment operator experience.
  • Task training required for each type of equipment operated.
  • Requires a Class B CDL or must be able to obtain within 90 days.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or background.
  • Ability to perform daily inspection and servicing.
  • Familiarity with area and conditions in which equipment will be operated.
  • Thorough knowledge of operating limitations of equipment, (i.e., weight, speed, braking capabilities).
  • Good physical condition as position may require bending, kneeling, walking, standing, climbing, stairs and lifting; high degree of manual dexterity and coordination and good eye/hand coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Load, transport, and stockpile raw materials and coal as required for production of cement.
  • Strip overburden to facilitate drilling and removal of raw material.
  • Hauling trash, dust and other materials.
  • Operate equipment in construction or repair of plant facilities.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhere to safety policies and practices, perform daily housekeeping of assigned area, perform daily workplace inspections, adhere to plant policies and proper use of plant radios.
  • Be familiar with MSHA safety rules, safety procedures for plant mobile equipment, lockout/tagout policy, confined space permit policy, hot work policy, emergency response plan, arc flash/shock and burn protection, proper containment and disposal process (via Waste Management Plan) for lubricants, paints/solvents and other environmentally sensitive materials.
  • Ensure quality of work performed, participate in continuous improvement system, observe and promote best practices, good time management and be able to troubleshoot/analyze root cause failure.
  • Work where and when needed as directed by plant supervisory personnel to meet plant needs.
  • Operate all quarry equipment.
  • Operates water truck for dust control.
