Quantum Solutions Scientist

QuEra Computing•Boston, MA

About The Position

QuEra is seeking a quantum solutions scientist to explore algorithms and applications suited to the qubit-count and megaquop capabilities of near-term fault-tolerant neutral atom quantum computers. Working with external customers and internal teams, the scientist will carry out hands-on co-design projects involving resource estimation, application discovery, QEC gadget design, and subroutine optimization to demonstrate the utility of EFT neutral atoms. The role contributes to the development of practical quantum computing and helps guide QuEra and the field toward quantum utility.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in physics, math, computer science, quantum information science, or a similar field.
  • Expertise in quantum information science and quantum computing fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of modern quantum error correction techniques.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with scientific coding using Python.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant postdoctoral and/or quantum computing industry experience.
  • Customer-focused project development experience.
  • Expertise in an industry vertical such as logistics, finance, operations research, chemistry, biotech, engineering, machine learning, or another related field.
  • Strong publication record in quantum information science, machine learning, chemistry, applied mathematics, or a similar field.
  • Familiarity with gate-based neutral atom quantum computing.
  • Prior experience in a quantum computing company or commercial research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute technical delivery of customer co-design projects, from initial scoping and algorithm prototyping through hardware execution and demonstrated results.
  • Collaborate with hardware, QEC theory, compiler, and software teams to deliver customer projects.
  • Perform application-level resource estimation and optimize quantum executions for EFT neutral atom hardware.
  • Develop fault-tolerant algorithmic subroutines and QEC gadgets optimized for high-rate codes.
  • Survey state-of-the-art classical and quantum methods across target verticals to identify high-value application opportunities and quantify quantum advantage crossover points.
  • Publish research and present findings at leading quantum computing conferences and venues.

Benefits

  • Equity grants for all new hires.
