About The Position

Quantum-Art, a full stack quantum computing company, develops state of the art quantum computing systems based on trapped ions technology (both hardware and software). We are looking for a Quantum Applications Researcher to help identify, design, and develop quantum solutions for practically relevant problems. This role is intended for researchers and algorithm developers with a strong background in quantum information, and preferably quantum algorithms, who can connect advanced theory with real-world use cases and hardware-aware implementation. The role spans application-driven algorithm research, solution design, benchmarking, simulation, and optimization for our specific quantum backend. This position requires strong independent research ability, as the position requires leading new knowledge domains within the company.

Requirements

• PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, with strong emphasis on quantum information or quantum computing.
• Strong background in quantum information theory.
• Solid understanding of quantum algorithms and quantum circuit design.
• Experience in research-level problem solving, including turning open-ended problems into structured technical approaches.
• Strong programming skills for simulation, prototyping, and evaluation, preferably in Python and relevant scientific computing tools.
• Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar domains and build technical leadership in emerging subject areas.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex ideas clearly across interdisciplinary teams.

Nice To Haves

• PhD or equivalent research experience in quantum algorithms or quantum applications.
• Experience in one or more application domains such as quantum chemistry, quantum machine learning, optimization, materials science, nonlinear PDEs, or related computational sciences.
• Prior knowledge in advanced classical algorithmic solutions, including full mathematical formulation of such problems

Responsibilities

• Research and develop quantum algorithms for real-world problems in domains where quantum computing may offer an advantage.
• Design end-to-end algorithmic solutions, including mathematical formulation, quantum subroutines, circuit construction, and resource estimation.
• Benchmark algorithmic cost and feasibility using relevant metrics such as qubit count, circuit depth, gate complexity, runtime, sampling requirements, and error sensitivity.
• Simulate and evaluate candidate solutions and optimize them for the company’s specific hardware backend and compiler stack.
• Identify quantum algorithms and application areas that best match the strengths and roadmap of the company’s hardware, including capability-driven demonstrations in addition to client-driven use cases.
• Contribute reusable building blocks to an internal synthesis and algorithm library.
• Work closely with compiler, control, and hardware teams to ensure that algorithmic designs are practical and well aligned with execution constraints.
