About The Position

GTI is a contract manufacturing partner supporting customers in renewable energy, power generation, infrastructure, and industrial systems. GTI Fabrication is seeking a dedicated Quality Weld Inspector for Second Shift to ensure welded components meet internal and external quality standards. This role plays a key part in verifying weld quality through visual and non-destructive inspections and supports GTI’s commitment to precision and compliance across all welded assemblies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of welding inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and other applicable codes.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand welding symbols.
  • Must be able to work second shift hours consistently.
  • Detail-oriented with strong visual acuity and judgment.
  • Effective communicator who can collaborate with welders, engineers, and production staff.
  • Strong documentation and computer skills (Microsoft Office, quality systems).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on second shift.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • NDT Level I or II certification in PT, MT, or UT.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or contract manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of welded parts, assemblies, and structures per GTI, AWS, and ASME standards.
  • Evaluate and verify weld quality using weld gauges, blueprints, and measurement tools.
  • Interpret welding symbols, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Identify and document nonconforming welds and assist in root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Support welder qualification testing and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Communicate quality concerns to welders and production leadership in real time.
  • Accurately document findings and enter inspection data into quality databases and forms.
  • Ensure all inspections and records comply with company policies and customer requirements.
  • Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area, adhering to GTI Energy safety standards.
