About The Position

The Quality Tester 1 serves as the front line of the quality performance for production operations and is responsible for testing all samples during routine assessments. The Quality Tester 1 is also trained in the basic operations of maintaining a production line and may be responsible for these duties at times. The Quality Tester 1 must be knowledgeable of and follow all procedures needed to ensure the proper safe and efficient operation of the quality lab and production floor. Position works under established guidelines and company policy.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic quality duties such as gathering sample stretch film rolls, measuring widths, weights, testing force to stretch, ultimate stretch, cling, and breaks. Entering all data into quality database and submitting tests for management to review and be notified if issues arise.
  • Performs all quality tests needed on shift at a minimum frequency of testing each line one time every 6 hours.
  • Performs quality tests after changeovers and on as needed basis.
  • Performs dimensional testing of all products. This includes the use of a tape measure, pi tape measure, and scale to measure and record the width, circumference, and weight of the film. Uses test stand to measure footage of rolls.
  • Performs oscillation check on all folded edge products.
  • Performs ultimate stretch tests on all machine film products. This test involves loading the roll on the test stand, threading the film through the test stand rollers, attaching the film to the test drum and starting the test with the appropriate settings and parameters.
  • Performs breaks tests on all products. Depending on product type, breaks tests will be performed on one of two test stands. Be able to differentiate between products in order to use the appropriate equipment for breaks test. Both tests require loading rolls onto mandrels, threading film onto a drum, and starting the tests with appropriate settings and parameters. Breaks tests must be observed for holes and defects with all recorded in database and reported to management.
  • Performs force to stretch tests on all hand film products. This test will be on different test stand depending on product and the Quality Tester 1 will need to differentiate between products in order to use the appropriate equipment.
  • Performs cling tests on all products. This test involves loading the roll on the test stand, threading the film through the test stand rollers, attaching the film to the test drum and starting the test with the appropriate settings and parameters and then attaching the tail of the film to a load cell that collects force values.
  • Performs 24 hour footage test on machine film rolls to ensure correct footage.
  • Reports all issues and out of specification results to Team Managers and Senior Operators.
  • Cross trained and maintained proficiencies in Line Operator 2 duties.
  • Trains on quality standards and controls and is trained to perform quality testing and complete tasks in the quality lab including Shift Testing; completing quality control paperwork accurately following established standards, and reporting quality test results to Management to ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Assists with training new Line Operators when placed on the production line.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the quality lab and on the line to ensure a clean work environment; ensure the work area is prepared and ready for shift change.
