About The Position

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Quality Technician located in Austin, TX. Shift – 3rd Shift 11:00pm-7:15am (Sunday-Thursday). This role involves auditing processes, testing and inspecting products, and developing, compiling, and evaluating statistical data to define and maintain product quality and reliability. The technician will work from engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform complex engineering testing, checkout, First Article Inspection, root cause research, internal corrective actions, and supplier correction actions. They will interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to define quality and reliability standards. The role includes selecting processes for audit, checking for various features like ESD practices, documentation, training, and process integrity, and selecting products for audit at specified stages to test qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or cosmetic characteristics. Recording audit data, applying statistical quality control procedures, evaluating data, and writing reports to validate or indicate deviations from standards are key responsibilities. The technician will also recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards, programs, or reports to achieve optimum quality within equipment capabilities. Additionally, they will perform calibration on inspection tools, maintain the gage track program, send gages out for calibration, and maintain calibration records. The role involves downloading quality information from the quality system for QA reports, researching engineering test results, implementing process changes to resolve problems, performing out-of-box audits (OBA), and providing factory support to identify and resolve issues with purchased parts, materials, and manufacturing. Receiving inspection may be required. The technician will review Quality Auditors' assistance and validate checklists at the beginning of the shift, ensure scrap disposition at MRB within 24 hours, assure customer implementation activities are in place, meet SSYMA requirements, review SPC data and confirm actions are effective, and validate tooling and gauges are working properly.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Audits processes, tests and inspects products and/or develops, compiles and evaluates statistical data to define and maintain quality and reliability of products.
  • Working from engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform complex engineering testing, checkout, First Article Inspection, root cause research, internal corrective actions and supplier correction actions.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to define quality and reliability standards.
  • Selects processes to be audited from primarily the manufacturing areas and checks for a variety of features, including ESD (electro-static discharge) and handling practices, documentation, training and process integrity.
  • Selects products for audits at specified stages in the production or post-production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical, electrical or cosmetic characteristics.
  • Records audit data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards, programs or reports to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Perform calibration on inspection tools e.g. micrometers, calipers height gages etc.
  • Maintain gage track program, print list of gages due for calibration in the beginning of each month and follow up with calibration.
  • Send gages out for calibration, maintain calibration records.
  • Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for research data.
  • Download quality information from quality system to be used for QA reports.
  • Research for engineering test results and implements process changes to resolve problems.
  • Performs out of box audits (OBA) as required.
  • Provides factory hold up to identify and resolve issues associated with purchased parts, materials and manufacturing.
  • May be required to perform receiving inspection.
  • Review at the beginning of the shift the Quality Auditors assistance and validated the Check List.
  • Scrap disposition at MRB in less than 24 hours.
  • Assure that the Customer implementation activities are in place.
  • Meet the SSYMA requirements (boats, goggles, gloves, ear plugs).
  • Review the SPC data and confirm the actions are effective.
  • Validate the tooling and gauges are working properly (microscope, magnifier, etc).
