About The Position

The Quality Technician serves as the primary quality assurance floor contact, ensuring that quality procedures are followed and that product (compound, component, and tire) conformance and quality standards meet customer expectations. This role is responsible for eliminating waste, diagnosing and analyzing the root cause of waste in all three factory areas (mixing, components, and finishing), compiling necessary reports, and creating "One Point Lessons" with quality engineers. The technician will also maintain all required records and enter data into computer-aided production control systems according to company procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2 years minimum working experience in related field
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Nokian Tyres will not provide visa sponsorship
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply statistics to problem solving
  • Strong problem solving skills required using established methodologies including 8-D, 5-WHY, Ishikawa, etc.
  • Knowledge of technological processes and production modes
  • Knowledge of main process and design data of the manufactured products
  • Knowledge of quality standards
  • Ability to identify production defects and develop methods to prevent defects
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills including basic knowledge of computer-based manufacturing applications
  • Proficient with MS-Office application suite
  • Proven technical skills
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Commitment to excellence, high standards and ethical business conduct; continuous improvement mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in technical field preferred, equivalent experience substitute
  • Experience with Lean Principles preferred
  • Experience with Oracle preferred

Responsibilities

  • The Quality Technician is the primary quality assurance floor contact
  • Ensure quality procedures are being followed and product (compound, component and tire) conformance and quality standards meets customer expectations
  • Eliminate waste in all 3 factory areas – mixing, components and finishing
  • Diagnose and analyze root cause of waste (scrap, Ahvalli, wasted time etc.) in all 3 factory areas
  • Compile necessary reports for the immediate supervisor and factory personnel
  • Compile “One Point Lessons” along with quality engineers for operators to learn from
  • Maintain all necessary records in the working documentation/enter data in computer-aided production control systems in accordance with the Company’s internal procedures
  • All other duties as required
