The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician has the primary responsibility for protecting the food by conducting food safety and quality sampling, testing, and documentation to meet all regulatory, customer and Pures Foods requirements. This role is responsible for meeting all applicable food regulations (international, national, state, and local) and for sampling, testing, and documentation of procedures, records, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). The technician works to maintain the safety, legality, and quality of each food and the processes used in their manufacture, aiming to meet and exceed customer requirements and reduce customer/consumer complaints. They report food safety and quality issues to their supervisor and are authorized to hold product based on food safety or quality non-conformance. The QA Technician also participates in daily food evaluation to identify possible defects and conducts weekly physical bakery inspections across various areas like pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, and personnel practices. They select food items for analysis at specified stages of production to evaluate compliance to specification and ensure materials are received from approved suppliers, conducting raw material supplier performance monitoring. Participation in Environmental Monitoring Programs (e.g., collecting swab samples, using ATP system) is also required. The role involves printing finished food case labels and ensuring appropriate communication of food safety/QA issues with Production Supervisors and QA Technicians at shift change. Other duties may be assigned, and the QA Technician is expected to effectively manage and execute changes, including overseeing other Quality Technicians. The ability to work different shifts and weekends is essential.
